About BHI Senior Living

Prairie Landing is a BHI Senior Living Community. Located in Zionsville, Indiana, BHI has deep roots in the Midwest. In addition to Prairie Landing and The Towne House, BHI operates leading communities in Indianapolis, Columbus, and Frankfort.

Committed to Excellence and Responsible Stewardship Since 1905

Since 1905, our first priority is to do what is best for the people we serve. As a faith-based, non-profit organization, we believe in responsible stewardship of resources, from making sure all of our communities are consistently maintained and updated, to employing the sound financial practices that have made BHI one of the most well-respected, senior living organizations in Indiana.

BHI’s financial goals are not driven by the need to return profits to investors. Instead, we seek to make continuous improvements to the programs, living environments, and services we provide to our residents.  When you choose to make your home at a BHI community, you have the assurance of knowing that the same community and amenities you have chosen today will still be here for you tomorrow — and that care will be provided by people who are committed to your well-being.

The BHI Foundation

Supporting the health of our communities

BHI Senior Living strives to ensure that every resident who lives at one of our life plan communities is empowered to live life to the fullest. It’s a lifestyle filled with opportunities to enhance wellness; enjoy exceptional services, amenities, and activities; and live in a community filled with good neighbors and caring staff. For more than 25 years, the BHI Foundation has been instrumental in helping us attain that goal.

Foundation Programs

Good Neighbor Fund

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the strength of the BHI Foundation, we are proud to offer the security of lifelong care for BHI residents who deplete their financial resources through no fault of their own and are no longer able to meet their monthly living expenses.

BHI residents who enter one of our Life Plan communities under a continuing care agreement are eligible to apply for benevolent care so that they may continue their residency in that community for as long as they choose. We are proud to say that no resident with a continuing care agreement has ever been asked to leave one of BHI’s senior living communities because of an inability to pay when their financial resources have been exhausted through no fault of their own.

Employee Scholarship Program

The generosity of our donors allows the BHI Foundation to contribute to community projects both within our CCRC’s and throughout their respective cities. These projects improve and enhance our residents’ quality of life, as well as make us good neighbors in our communities. Some of the projects we’ve helped support include:

  • Christian Service Award Grant is given to retired pastors or those in other Christian ministries to offset entrance fees
  • Resident Veterans Garden
  • Resident prepared soldier care packages
  • Community woodshop and greenhouse
  • Community aviaries
  • Library improvements
  • Resident prepared school backpack donations
  • Indy Honor Flight Guardian sponsorship
  • Upgrade of chapel pianos

Wellness Program

The BHI Foundation sponsors a scholarship program for the employees of BHI’s retirement communities. This tuition reimbursement program is designed to encourage employees to enhance their personal and professional growth through higher education. Retirement community employees can choose from two career development tracks: college credit/vocational courses or professional nursing licensure (RN and LPN).

Special Gifts & Projects

With the aid of your generosity, the BHI Foundation provides 50% of the funding for the Wellness Budget in each community. This support allows us to offer fitness programs, staffing, equipment, and more so our residents receive the benefit of comprehensive body/mind/spirit care.
